 It is
fundamental to choose simple detergents, i.e. those without the addition
of dyes or perfumes, and to employ them correctly.
Furthemore, it is important that the clothing of the cleaning personnel
be adequate, in fact it must be protected from contamination by means of
personal protective devices such as gloves, impermeable shoes, etc. Once
employed, such objects must not be used for other tasks, such as food
distribution.
When employing detergents for personal hygiene, those with non
physiological pH must be avoided for their irritating action, in fact
skin irritation may lead to sensitization. Similarly, excessive washing
and rubbing of the hands and forearms must be avoided as such activities
damage the hydrolipidic layer protecting the skin (the integrity of the
skin is essential to minimize the passing of allergens to the deeper
cutaneous layers).
