 Environmental
prevention
Welding must be carried out under the localized fume cupboards that allow
to capture the pollutants near the emission point before they dissipate
in the environment. Such fume cupboards should be conformed and
positioned so that they can be employed comfortably. Furthermore, they
must protect the breathing area of the workers and reduce the pollutant
to the lowest possible level.
A very important preventive measure is represented by the accurate
cleaning of the welding pieces: in fact, the decomposition of degreasers,
lubricants and paints that can be present over them may give origin to
dangerous pollutants.
Personal prevention
The employer must provide welders with insulating gloves, face protective
shields and feetboard and/or insulating footwear.
